Beyond the Float: Mastery of Powder & Freeride Performance

Develop elite-level powder and freeride skiing by refining fore–aft management, pressure control, turn shape versatility, and tactical decision-making in variable off-piste terrain—allowing expert skiers to ski deeper snow, steeper lines, and more complex terrain with fluidity, efficiency, and confidence.

About This Program

This 5-day expert program is designed to elevate powder and freeride skiing through refined movement patterns, tactical decision-making, and terrain-based learning. Using a PSIA-driven approach, skiers will improve balance, pressure control, turn shape, and adaptability across deep snow, steeps, trees, and variable off-piste conditions. The progression blends technical precision with real-world freeride application, helping skiers ski powder with greater fluidity, efficiency, and confidence—regardless of terrain or snow quality.

Program Structure

1

Find Float: Stance & Ski–Snow Connection

Objective: "Establish a neutral, mobile stance that lets the skis plane and steer predictably in soft snow."

Success Criteria: Skier maintains a calm upper body while the legs stay active; skis plane consistently with minimal tip dive.

2

Depth & Density Control: Pressure Without Punching

Objective: "Manage pressure and fore–aft adjustments to stay composed as snow depth and density change."

Success Criteria: Skier stays balanced and calm through inconsistent snow, controlling speed through turn shape with no sudden pressure spikes.

3

Steep Powder: Commitment, Line, and Tempo

Objective: "Ski steeper powder with disciplined tempo and line commitment using tactical turn placement."

Success Criteria: Skier enters steeps decisively and links consistent short-to-medium turns with controlled speed and clear turn placement.

4

Trees & Features: Corridor Control + Adaptation

Objective: "Ski tight terrain efficiently by blending turn shape, upper/lower separation, and quick re-centering after disruptions."

Success Criteria: Skier maintains a predictable corridor and rhythm in trees, recovering quickly from terrain hits without stopping the feet.

5

Freeride Blend: Style, Speed Management, and Full-Run Execution

Objective: "Integrate technique and tactics into a confident freeride run with deliberate changes in speed, turn size, and terrain choices."

Success Criteria: Skier completes a full freeride run with planned tactical changes, consistent balance, and a clear personal performance style without defensive braking.
